Radiation and Cell phones :
Cell phones work by emitting radio frequency radiation (RFR) that transmit through the antenna on your phone. This antennae lies right next to your brain. The potential risk of a mobile phone comes from its emission of low levels of radio frequency radiation (RF), the same type of energy that comes off a microwave oven. The RF pulses off the device’s antenna right next to the user’s head, and that proximity to the brain is what concerns some researchers. It is well known that high levels of RF can produce biological damage through heating effects (this is how your microwave oven is able to cook food). However, it is not known whether, to what extent, or through what mechanism, lower levels of RF might cause adverse health effects as well.
Risks to children :
Preliminary scientific evidence found exposure to radio frequency radiation might have subtle effects on biological functions, including the brain. Children may be more vulnerable because of their developing nervous system, the greater absorption of energy in the tissues of the child’s head, and a longer lifetime of exposure.
Views of scientists and researchers :
Inconclusive. There have been some 200 studies on the safety of cell phones. And they all seem to conflict concluding that scientists still aren’t sure as to the safety of cell phones. The catch is that these are short-term studies. Cell phones have only been in the mainstream for a few years. No one is sure of the long-term effects.
Preventive measures :
Limit time spent on your cell phone.
Use a phone design that moves the antennae away from the head.
Discourage children from using them.
Don’t use a cell phone if the signal is weak. The phone shoots out more radiation to compensate for a poor signal.

Here we have some footage of an apparent radiation leak at RAF Lakenheath. I am no expert on radiation but there certainly appears to be a reading of somekind. Maybe someone can enlighten us further ?

“I am a local resident and will be passing this video on to be viewed on the internet. This is to show that we have a big problem at RAF Lakenheath.
However, many US Military personnel are unaware of this including base commanders.
There has undoubtedly been a massive top level military cover up and someone needs to be made accountable.
For this exercise I am using a newly calibrated Plessey PDRM82M dose rate meter.
Normal background ionizing Radiation Levels on the meter normally read 0.0 to 0.1 centigray per hour.
The Dose Rate Meter readings you will see will be from the base perimeter because obviously as civilians we cannot get on base.
To protect myself, I will ingest some Potassium Iodide that has been isssued to certain US Military personnel in this area of the UK.
It is common knowledge that a serious incident has taken place here and for obvious reasons, many local people avoid the area.

Last year, Dr. Ronald B. Herberman, director emeritus of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, sent a memo to about 3,000 faculty and staff members warning of risks based on early, unpublished data. He said that children should use the phones only for emergencies because their brains were still developing and that adults should keep the phone away from the head and use a speakerphone or a wireless headset.
Herberman, who says scientific conclusions often take too long, is one of numerous doctors and researchers who have endorsed an August report by retired electronics engineer L. Lloyd Morgan. The report highlights a study that found significantly increased risk of brain tumors from 10 or more years of cell phone or cordless phone use.
Also, the BioInitiative Working Group, an international group of scientists, notes that many countries have issued warnings and that the European Parliament has passed a resolution calling for governmental action to address concerns over health risks from mobile phone use. But the National Cancer Institute said studies thus far have turned up mixed and inconsistent results, noting that cell phones did not come into widespread use in the United States until the 1990s.
Although research has not consistently demonstrated a link between cellular telephone use and cancer, scientists still caution that further surveillance is needed before conclusions can be drawn,”" according to the Cancer Institute’s Web site.
Motorola Inc., one of the nation’s major wireless phone makers, says on its Web site that all of its products comply with international safety guidelines for radiofrequency energy exposure. A Motorola official referred questions to CTIA.

“Every single study of brain tumors that looks at 10 or more years of use shows an increased risk of brain cancer,” says Cindy Sage, MA, coeditor of the report. A recent study from Sweden is particularly frightening, suggesting that if you started using a cell phone as a teen, you have a 5 times greater risk of brain cancer than those who started as an adult. The risk rises even more for people who use the phone on only one side of the head.
While defenders of cell phone safety claim no scientist can explain why EMFs may be harmful in humans, a body of reliable and consistent animal research shows that electromagnetic fields, equal to those generated by mobile phones, open the blood-brain barrier, causing blood vessels to leak fluid into the brain and damage neurons. Ironically, that research (by renowned Swedish neuro-oncologist Leif G. Salford, MD, PhD) began with the goal of finding a way to deliver chemotherapy to brain tumors.

Other countries are revising exposure standards.
Members of the European Union, which has led the way on EMF investigations, are moving quickly to protect their citizens, particularly children and pregnant women. In the past 2 years alone, France, Germany, and England have dismantled wireless networks in schools and public libraries, and other countries are pressing to follow suit. Israel has banned the placement of cellular antennae on residences, and Russian officials have advised against cell phone use for children under 18.
Electrical hypersensitivity (EHS) is becoming more widespread.
Symptoms of EHS, a recently identified condition, include fatigue, facial irritation (resembling rosacea), tinnitus, dizziness, and digestive disturbances, which occur after exposure to visual display units, mobile phones, WiFi equipment, and commonplace appliances. Experts say up to 3% of all people are clinically hypersensitive, as many as one-third of us to a lesser degree.

Is cell-I have an insulin pump that runs on a long lasting lithium AA battery. I also have a beam that sends information from my pump to my glucose meter. The company says there are no issues with radiation. However, being that the thing is next to my ovaries I don’t want to end up having a kid that has three heads or anything!!!!!!!
